Centr Review – How does Centr app work?

Updated: Mar 28

Centr is a fitness app that offers effective workout routines at home. Centr has a meal plan and meditation sessions included. The workouts are diverse and require little or no equipment. Not only this fitness app is great for reaching your fitness goals, it also promotes wellness. The interface is easy to use and navigate.

The central figure of Centr

Centr app stroked me as soon as I saw their promo on social media. And, of course, Chris Hemsworth as the frontman himself (even though he’s not really on that many workouts anyway)! They claim that Chris actually uses Centr programs for his roles, either it’s bulking or losing weight he’s after. But the true treasure is the Centr team that’s made up of pro experts indeed! This Centr review will look closer into how effective the workouts are and distinguish how Centr is different from other fitness apps in the market. In the end, you should have an idea of whether or not it’s worth subscribing to it!

How Centr App Became THE Centr App?

The team started out on the web and got their customer base that way. Today, with the new Centr app, the majority of customers are the ones who already know their workouts but the userbase is growing rapidly with more people downloading the workout app every single day. Currently, it has more than 500k downloads on just Android alone.

What’s special about Centr app is their full-length workout routines with a coach who’s doing the moves himself. Honestly, their coached workouts are really something so simple but outstanding at the same time.

Most of the workout apps, if not all, are compiled routines that are following the repetition principle. In that way, the workouts feel a bit broken into pieces. With Centr app, you get a routine with a professional trainer who’s working out with you.

I must admit, it’s quite motivating and works great for polishing technique. Fitness apps like Les Mills is also strong in this category.

How does Centr work?

In the beginning, Centr will ask you a couple of questions like what’s your goal, fitness level, and which meal plan you wanna follow. Standard procedure and just like any other workout app..

Centr determines your fitness level based on how many times you train during the week – which is not the best, I must say. Just for comparison, workout apps like Freeletics put your through a physical test to determine your shape and adjust your custom program that way. However, if you keep listening to your body, you should be alright.

Navigation

Centr is super straight-forward. You’ll find your daily workout, meditation session, and meals all in the Daily Planner. Clean and simple UI is really crucial because we don’t want to be distracted with some unnecessary garbage and occasional glitches. Workout apps should be easy-to-follow and not glitchy, otherwise, they’re not sustainable. Centr has created a great workout app following those principles.

With the Centr app, you can also swap recipes & workouts if you don’t like them. Once the daily workout is done and ticked off, it disappears from your Planner section. This is also the case for meals and meditation.

In this way, by ticking off your daily tasks, you’re clearing your daily planned activities and you’re ready to start a new day.

The app covers 3 main sections: workouts, recipes, and meditation sessions and this Centr review will look at all 3 of them. Let’s start with the workouts!

Centr workouts

Centr has incorporated various training types like boxing, strength, MMA, dynamic yoga, Pilates, even foundation movement, and more. Literally, the workouts were so different that they surprised me in a good way. Naturally, such diverse methods of training are extremely effective when it comes to seeing results as we keep the body guessing. If we follow the same training pattern week after week then the body gets used to it and knows what to expect. This decreases the effectiveness, most commonly known as the workout plateau. However, Centr workouts in all its diversity are mixing things up which allows us to work out in a smarter way.

Your daily workout will be in the Planner section but you can also take additional workouts or change it if needed.

Centr app also lets you choose either to go with the coached routine or self-guided workout (and then there are days with a Bonus workout included too).

If you go with the coached routine, you’ll have the previously mentioned single continuous video. Whereas, self-guided workouts are more set up for individual exercises that you can do at your own pace.

I liked all three versions: self-guided, coached and the bonus workouts. But, of course, this will not limit you to browse other workouts from the Centr’s library. Still, with regards to working out, having a workout presented to me was way better than scrolling through the library and spending way to much time choosing a workout myself.

Centr workouts are anything from 20 – 60 minutes long with levels for beginners to advance. All workouts include warm-ups and cool-downs (loved this bit too).

Equipment You’ll Need

Most Centr workouts don’t require any equipment, however, I noticed that as more advanced you go, as more equipment you’ll need.

No need for anything fancy but a pair of dumbbells, barbell, and incline bench would come in handy, especially if you’re building muscle.

Centr meal plan and recipes

Centr app has 4 options available – regular, pescatarian, vegetarian and vegan recipe selections.

The food is surprisingly delicious, and all recipes list down calorie intake, cooking instructions, and serving size.

You can swap recipes and workouts if you don’t like it. Once the daily workout and meals are done and ticked off, it disappears from your Planner section.

Grocery shopping is super easy too! Besides, Centr has a unique feature that I’ve seen only in this workout app. It’s called the leftovers.

Normally, your day would consist of 3 meals. However, one of those 3 meals might be “leftovers from previous meals”. This is great for people who don’t really like slaving at the stove all day. For the Centr team, fitness is simple and comfortable.

If there aren’t any leftovers, Centr will list down quick alternatives that can be done in 5 minutes.

However, the calorie listing in the recipes is pretty much the only way you can stay on top of your calories. I’m not disputing Centr’s accuracy but just saying that it’s limited.

If you’re mixing your daily meals with snacks and changing the serving size then I would recommend incorporating a third-party app like MyFitnessPal. In this way, you could stay on top of your calorie balance for the day (aka see better results).

Alternatively, you could also get yourself one of those smart nutrition food scales like the one below that has good reviews on Amazon.

Calming Meditations

Centr meditation podcasts are meant for decreasing stress, improving sleep, and fighting anxiety (yes, something we all have at times). Hence, this part of the fitness app is meant for improving your wellness and quality of life. Having your workouts done is one thing, but improving your sleep and reducing stress brings your wellbeing to a new level and should not be forgotten.

Centr meditation sessions work with your mind and body. It uses various methods (such as breathing) to mindfully become aware of the thoughts floating through our mind.

You can do these at your own time, whichever time fits your schedule. Though, naturally, I would recommend doing the sleep visualization before bedtime and so forth. The timing won’t be listed here, but the theme kind of will give you an idea when to do them

Reviewing Centr Cost

At the time of writing this Centr review, the app costs $15.99 USD a month and $95.99 USD a year. But on Smartkeys.in we provide CENTR lifetime plan on very low price
